Happy Thanksgiving...I think!?!

We actually had a really good Thanksgiving, just interlaced with a couple of unpleasant moments. The girls and I rode home with my parents on Sunday Nov 18 (after they brought my washer/dryer to Cedar City) so that we could get together with a few of the old gang from the OC. The first upset came on Monday evening when I phoned Weston so that the girls could say goodnight. He informed me that there had been some unpleasant developments in the negotiations for a practice that we are trying to buy. Talk about ruining a vacation. Here we are 6 mths from graduation, thinking that we are going to have a job and a pretty decent one at that and now it is looking like it has turned South quickly. It is still up in the air as far as if it is a lost cause or not. The get together was much needed for me so that I could vent for a minute and then forget my troubles. We should do it again.
We had a great Thanksgiving day and spent it in similar fashion to many of you, family, food, fun and last but definitely not least, sleep. The real trouble started around 3:50 am when my dear sweet Sydney came in complaining of a stomach ache. I swear if I open my mouth and say something, it is going to come back and bite me. My sister-in-law and I were discussing sick kids and I said how fortunate I was that neither one of my girls had ever really had the flu or thrown-up. Well, That is exactly what happened. Lucky for me it was just once but what went down as milk came back up as cottage cheese all over my mother's newly cleaned carpets. Sorry mom! And sorry for the description. Weston wasn't feeling well either but at least he didn't throw-up. Despite all of this we braved the Black Friday rushes and were able to pretty much finish our Christmas shopping for the girls. We had a great time, and loved seeing all of the family, but I sure love being back home in our own little apartment.

We have a COPYCAT

Macey has turned into a this major copycat. She does everything that her sister does. It doesn't matter what Sydney is doing she thinks that she is just as big and can do it to. It is quite funny to watch sometimes and very frustrating other times Like in the last picture where she wants to climb the tree, but doesn't want any help. If any of you remember an earlier post, Macey has learned the word no and can use it quite forcefully at times.

I took this picture of Sydney first. Macey wanted nothing to do with pictures until Sydney decided that she wanted to do some of her posing. She really likes to do that for her pictures now. Macey ran right over to the bush and put her hands up on her cheeks. she even runs over to check out her picture when it is done just like her sister.

A new version...

The other night after Weston got home from work, we decided that we would just grab a burger and then go out to Wal-mart for a little christmas research. All that Sydney will tell us that she wants is more, more, more littlest pet shops. Especially the bee. Anyway, we were sitting at dinner and Sydney was singing to herself I asked her what she was singing and she told me that she was singing Cinderella. These are the words that came out of her mouth "sing, sing night in jail. Sing, sing night in jail ahhh, ahhh, ahhh..." Weston and I busted up laughing. It works I guess, she is a servant in her own home. I just thought I would share. Kids can say the funniest things. The picture doesn't go with anything, I just thought that it was a cute one of her.

Someone turned 30

I am getting caught up on all of the things that I had planned to post but that got set aside until after we moved. Weston had his 30th birthday on Oct. 25. I surprised him by getting a few of our friends together and going to dinner. I went to the resturant (Islands) a few minutes early and decorated the table just a bit and had little noise makers for everyone to blow when we walked up. Of course I forgot my camera and so I don't have any pictures. I did get some pictures of the girls enjoying his balloons when we got home. They used the big 30 as a small trampoline.

The following sunday we had a few friends over for cake and ice cream. I was able to get a shot of all of the kids eating in our kitchen. we had so much going on around this time and we are grateful that our friends were willing to take time to come and celebrate with us.

Last Week in California

I know that we have now been in Utah for almost two weeks, but I had a few spare minutes, rare I know, and I thought that I would give a little run down of our last weekend in California. Weston's parents, his sister and her family and his youngest brother all came out late Wed. night (they came to help us move). Thurs. morning we went to Disneyland and spent the entire day there. The girls had a blast with Grandma and Grandpa and their cousins. Sydney absolutely loves her cousin Kyson and he is so good to humor her.

Friday morning we spent packing and then getting the girls ready to go to the annual trick or treating at Weston's school. Sydney was so excited to be Sleeping Beauty and she even got to put on makeup. Watch out boys, here she comes. Macey was a care bear and could have cared less what she was as long as she got lots of candy. Getting her to let go of that pumpkin was murder.

I know that many of you have already seen these pictures several times, but humor me. We have lots of family and friends that have not. It is amazing that all of us were able to get at least one picture where all of the kids are looking in the same general direction.

Sydney was thrilled to see Brooklyn as a fellow princess. We would like to thank her for letting Sydney use her Sleeping Beauty crown. I couldn't get it to stay on her head.Friday night was our church's Trunk or treat. For those of you who don't know what that is, everyone comes to the church and decorates the trunk or their cars and then the kids get to come trick or treating to the various cars. It was great Sydney went around with her Grandpa and Brooklyn and Blake she had a really good time.

Saturday night Weston's parents were kind enough to watch the girls so that we could go to the annual Adult halloween party at Weston's school. I don't have any pictures because Wes and I were really late and we didn't even dress up. We had costumes planned and everything, but we had been packing the trailer that day and it took longer than anticipated. Our friends Matt and Lindsay Palmer were boxes and we were going to be the UPS delivery guys and wheel them into the party. Better luck next year. Without Weston's great packing abilities, I am not sure that we would have fit everything. I wish that I had taken more pictures. It was like a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Weston's parents left on Sunday morning with all of our stuff and this is what we were left with.

A single air mattress with pillows for a couch And a cooler for a fridge. Thank you to the Larson's for that.
We used air mattresses for beds and that is about all that we had. Thank you to the Shelton's who let us use their air mattress. We found out that our air mattress doesn't hold air the first night that Weston's parents stayed with us. The girls were supposed to use it when they left so we are grateful that they were willing to let us use theirs for a few days. It was a very busy weekend, but it wasn't as bad as I anticipated it being. We had a good time with everyone and got to enjoy a couple of last get togethers with our friends. This was a long post sorry. I think that it has got to be the longest one that I have done.

Life in a Box

Macey has learned a few things in the last couple of months. One of these things is the many uses of boxes (Maybe it is all the moving). She loves boxes wether it's sitting in them, wearing them as shoes ( I missed the picture) or on her head as a hat, she just loves boxes. She will empty them all out only to turn around and put all of the stuff right back in.

She is learning so many things that it amazes me. She recently has started to talk a little bit and can say a few words. I am sure that only I can really tell what she is saying since I am around her the most, but none the less she is talking. She can say up, down, hello, thank you, please, all done, daddy, yes, more and something that sounds a lot like drink sortof. Her latest and most annoying word is no. She actually started out saying nope, but more recently has started using no with a bit more force and kindof growls the word as she draws out the "o" part like "NOOOOO!" I need to find my video camera (lost in the move) so that you all can hear what Weston calls the "growl".

I hope that this next little trick is a good omen for me. Right before we moved, Macey would run into the bathroom and stand in front of the toliet. She would stand there and pull at her diaper until it was removed and she was placed on the toliet. when she gets on she grunts a little and then says all done. She likes to help wipe and then flush the toliet. And she even helps put her diaper back on. She has actually gone a couple of times and the first time that she actually went a little #2 (and it was little) she was so proud of herself that she clapped her hands. It was really funny! So like I said, I am hoping that this means she is going to be easy to potty train.

Macey also enjoys climbing anything and everything and loves to have her hair done. She will come running into the bathroom and climbs right up onto the toliet when I call. Sometimes I think that it is just to beat Sydney but I'm not complaining. She has such a cute smile and is usually a pretty happy baby. She can be a stinker too, but we love her anyway.

Happy Birthday Mom!

I am late again, but better late than never right?!? I actually remembered her birthday a couple of days before but with the move and everything it has been kindof crazy and Sorry mom, you got lost in the craziness. I love my mom!! It always makes me feel bad when I hear people say that they don't have very good relationships with their mothers. Without my mom, I don't know what or where I would be today. She has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. She may disagree with that, but even as a teenager (I'm sure I didn't announce this) I thought of her as that. She has always been there for me even when I am not doing things the way that I should. She is a great listener and always helps me to try and see the other side. I can tell her things and I don't feel like she is judging me or anyone else. Even when I hear something like "I didn't raise you to act like that" Which I have heard a time or two shocking I know. :) I am proud to call her my mother and I love her very much! Happy Birthday! (Late) I tried to find a picture but the only recent one (my mom hates her picture taken) that I have won't download.

A New Hobby

Well, My friend Trenda's little girl always has cute bows in her hair. So I asked Trenda where she gets them and it turns out that she makes most of them herself. So, I had Trenda show me how she makes hers and I did a little bit of research on the internet and learned how to make a couple of others. I have a few more in the works, but my mom wanted to see a couple that I had made already so I decided to post them. My next one is going to be the curly Q looking ones. I think they call them "korker" something or other. I am actually surprised how easy and fun they are to make. My husband will laugh and claim that I have just traded in collecting scrapbook supplies to collecting ribbon and barrettes. There is alot of cute ribbon out there. Oh well, at least these can be used on a daily basis. I find myself planning outfits around bows or looking for specific ribbon to match other outfits. I can see where this could get out of hand. :) But, for the time being, I am having fun with it.

Sorry, this isn't the best picture. It is my wedding ring. Weston designed it himself from things that I told him I wanted and I LOVE it! For 3 1/2 yrs I have been wearing just a band that I got to wear to work. And now, after all this time we got my wedding ring fixed and I can wear it again. This is the 2nd time that the main diamond has been loose. We haven't been able to get it fixed because in order to get it done here, the whole ring would need to be redone, and it would cost to much money. While we were in Utah this summer we took it back to the company that made it and this very nice man (can't remember his name) fixed it for free. Thank you Bellistons!!

In my last post I mentioned something about our move here. Let me just give you an idea of all the things that have gone wrong since we moved back. Our dishwasher has broken down and we have had to have the maintence guys over 3 times to fix it.









The water heater blew up, at 10:00 at night, and squirted 55 gallons of water all over the patio and ruined a couple of boxes that I had just unpacked (at least they were empty) and had planned on saving for the next move.










A couple of weeks ago while we were driving home from Orange (the city), the transmission in the passat seemed to just quite working and we had to drive all the way home going twenty miles an hour at 5:00 pm with both screaming girls in the back. Weston called around to the dealerships and found out that sometimes the transmission will go into what they call safety mode where it won't let the car sift into the higher gears. Apparently this is what happened. However, when Weston went out to drive it to the dealership to have it looked at, it worked fine. I think that we will wait until the next episode to have it looked at.



when we first got here the computer would not work and we ended up having to buy a new monitor. Many of you know that you can't live without the internet if you are in optometry school. When we were finally able to get on and check our emails, I had 348 in my Hotmail account. Thank heavens most of them work junk!

I don't have a picture of this next one, but when the cable/internet guy came to hook everything up, due to the funny wiring system that our apartment has, he ended up spending 8 1/2 hrs with us and using our phone line to get it all to work. What a day that was! I'm sure it wasn't pretty for him either.

And this last one, I will spare all of you the pictures, but I have an umbilical hernia. Thank you Sydney and Macey. I am still waiting to hear if I need surgery on it or not. All of this has taken place in a very short time period of 5-6 weeks. Would anyone like to take my place for awhile? I could use a break. Despite all of this, we have really enjoyed being back and spending lots of time with our friends here in sunny California.

A recap of our summer!

I just realized (even though people have been telling me that it has been a while) that I haven't posted anything since we moved back to California. Maybe that says something about the move. I will get to that on another post. First off, despite all the problems, we LOVE being back. We knew that we would miss our friends but you never realize how much until you're gone. I just thought I would review the summer and let all of those who were not around see some of the things that we were up to.

Loads of family, friends and fun!!!

Sydney made lots of new friends. There was one boy in particular that she would ask to play with often. His name is Drew and he is the one in the sandbox. She also liked to play with Paige (Swimming) and Eliza (trampoline).

Our neighbor has a peach tree and said that we could use all of the peaches if we wanted to. So, we spent a few days canning peaches and making jam. It was alot of work, but we are sure enjoying the "fruits" of our labor. I'm funny!


Sydney was able to take swimming lessons at the public pool right by my mom's house. The first couple of days she completely freaked out and I didn't think that we were even going to finish out the session. By the third day she was enjoying every minute of them and would ask me at the end if I saw her do all of the tricks.

We celebrated a couple of birthdays and passed a few milestones. Sydney turned 3 yrs old and Macey turned the BIG 1. She also learned how to use her fork, how to say please and more in sign language, wave, climb up and down the stairs ( and everything else, all day everyday), and numerous other things that one year olds learn.

And last but not least, Lots and Lots of family. This was definetly one of the best things about being back in Utah. The girls were able to spend time with family on both sides. We loved being there and appreciate all that you do for us. Thank You!!

Old Haunts!

This was our first attempt at doing Macey's hair. Up to this point, her hair has been to fine to hold even the tightest clips, and she never did leave headbands in. I was a little disappointed to learn that she is not going to be any easier when it comes to doing hair. She didn't like it much and wouldn't hold still. Needless to say, it didn't turn out very straight or even. We will be working on it. Practice, practice, practice.

Weston and I needed a little break, so we headed down south and dropped the girls off at his parents house. We stayed in the Cedar Breaks Lodge at Brian Head Ski Resort near Cedar City Utah. We took some time out from relaxing to look for housing while we are there on our rotation after California. We didn't have much luck. Everyone told us to check back when it gets closer.
Anyway, while we were gone our two little girls(made of sugar and spice and everything nice) learned how to climb. Sydney already knew, but my little Macey now thinks that she can do what the big girls do. I am just dreading the day when she can climb out of her crib. At the rate she is doing everything else, it will probably be soon. Why do kids have to grow up so quickly? Thank you Terry and Pauline for watching them. They both really enjoyed their time with you. And Weston and I both really enjoyed our time away. I would recommend getting away to anyone who has small children. Even just for a night.

Macey got here all by herself. She only had problems when she got to the top and had to turn around. What a stinker!!!
