A recap of our summer!

I just realized (even though people have been telling me that it has been a while) that I haven't posted anything since we moved back to California. Maybe that says something about the move. I will get to that on another post. First off, despite all the problems, we LOVE being back. We knew that we would miss our friends but you never realize how much until you're gone. I just thought I would review the summer and let all of those who were not around see some of the things that we were up to.

Loads of family, friends and fun!!!
Sydney made lots of new friends. There was one boy in particular that she would ask to play with often. His name is Drew and he is the one in the sandbox. She also liked to play with Paige (Swimming) and Eliza (trampoline).

Our neighbor has a peach tree and said that we could use all of the peaches if we wanted to. So, we spent a few days canning peaches and making jam. It was alot of work, but we are sure enjoying the "fruits" of our labor. I'm funny!

Sydney was able to take swimming lessons at the public pool right by my mom's house. The first couple of days she completely freaked out and I didn't think that we were even going to finish out the session. By the third day she was enjoying every minute of them and would ask me at the end if I saw her do all of the tricks.

We celebrated a couple of birthdays and passed a few milestones. Sydney turned 3 yrs old and Macey turned the BIG 1. She also learned how to use her fork, how to say please and more in sign language, wave, climb up and down the stairs ( and everything else, all day everyday), and numerous other things that one year olds learn.

And last but not least, Lots and Lots of family. This was definetly one of the best things about being back in Utah. The girls were able to spend time with family on both sides. We loved being there and appreciate all that you do for us. Thank You!!

Old Haunts!

This was our first attempt at doing Macey's hair. Up to this point, her hair has been to fine to hold even the tightest clips, and she never did leave headbands in. I was a little disappointed to learn that she is not going to be any easier when it comes to doing hair. She didn't like it much and wouldn't hold still. Needless to say, it didn't turn out very straight or even. We will be working on it. Practice, practice, practice.

Our Little Monkeys

Weston and I needed a little break, so we headed down south and dropped the girls off at his parents house. We stayed in the Cedar Breaks Lodge at Brian Head Ski Resort near Cedar City Utah. We took some time out from relaxing to look for housing while we are there on our rotation after California. We didn't have much luck. Everyone told us to check back when it gets closer.
Anyway, while we were gone our two little girls(made of sugar and spice and everything nice) learned how to climb. Sydney already knew, but my little Macey now thinks that she can do what the big girls do. I am just dreading the day when she can climb out of her crib. At the rate she is doing everything else, it will probably be soon. Why do kids have to grow up so quickly? Thank you Terry and Pauline for watching them. They both really enjoyed their time with you. And Weston and I both really enjoyed our time away. I would recommend getting away to anyone who has small children. Even just for a night.

Macey got here all by herself. She only had problems when she got to the top and had to turn around. What a stinker!!!

We've traded bikes and trikes for...

WHEELCHAIRS!!

My grandma lives with my Mom and Dad. She has some physical issues and has a hard time walking so they have a couple of wheelchairs to use. My girls both love to ride in them. They will try and convince anyone and everyone to give them a ride. If they are really lucky they can catch their Uncle Jacob home and get him to give them a ride in the motorized one. Now that is a real treat.

Cold Sore Woes!!!

I don't know if any of you suffer from cold sores, but I do and I have all of my life. When we moved to California I rarely seemed to get them. When I did it was usually after I had been to Utah visiting my family. Well, we have been here for approximately 8 weeks and I have had 7 of them. And the worst part, I had 3 at one time and I currently have 2. What is the deal?!? I am not sure that I am ready to move back to Utah. And another thing, I haven't had problems with acne since well.......(thinking), I moved to California. Now, I can frequently be refered to as pizza face (it isn't that bad, but I do feel like a teenager again). We will probably get use to it just in time to move back to Fullerton and then we get to adjust to the humidity. Isn't life grand!!! Actually, we are really looking forward to moving back. We weren't sure that there would be that much that we would miss, aside from the people, but there is nothing like being away for awhile to show you how good it really was. See ya all soon!

Well, where do I start? First, I know it has been awhile, a long while. At first we had technical difficulties (my parents computer didn't take our memory stick) and then, I was simply to busy. It has also taken me a while to get familiar with this whole blogging thing again. I have however, enjoyed looking at all of the other blogs.
I thought I was doing so good and getting everything ready to be moved when we came back to move apartments. From the picture it looks good, right!?! Boy, was I wrong! Word of advice to all of those who may find themselves in our same situation, start earlier and get rid of everything you can. Actually in my defense, we had some special circumstances that didn't really work out to my advantage. It was a rough couple of weeks for the girls as they had to entertain themselves while I packed. Thank you to all of those who helped by watching them for me.

Car or SUV????

We have decided that it is time for a bigger vehicle. Unfortunately, it is going to have to wait for at least another year. We were able to fit just about everything that we would need for the 3 mths in our little car. It actually has a really big trunk. We loaded everything up in garbage bags and then sucked all of the air out with the vacuum cleaner. During the drive here (Utah) the bags expanded and formed to the shape of the trunk. It was a little scary when we went to get something out of the car. I thought for sure everything was going to come poping out like those snakes in the cans.
I would also like to quickly thank all of those who helped that weekend with the apartment move. It was a long weekend for Weston and me and it would have been even longer if it weren't for your help. Lindsay and Jessica, thank you so much for all of your help with the cleaning. I will just let you know that thanks to you we got all of our deposit back. THANKS again.

Who wants to jump?

Who needs a trampoline when you have an ottoman. I Had just finished changing Macey's diaper and ran back into the bedroom to grab Sydney's clothes. I could hear the girls laughing and came out to find them jumping on the ottoman. I know that the pictures are a little blurry, but I didn't have time to change the settings on the camera. Besides, it gives you the sense of really being there. We did end up with a couple of casualties and that was the end of jumping. Macey fell off
backwards and was stuck upside down
in a head stand with her body leaning
against the ottoman
holding her up. She didn't even cry, much to my surprise. She can be a bit of a whinner at times. For the most part, Sydney is a very good big sister. And Macey absolutely adores her. When they do play nice together, it is a lot of fun to watch.

Blast From the Past!

I was looking through all of my pictures the other day and ran across these of Sydney. I had just barely put the new pictures of Macey on the computer so they were fresh in my mind.

Sydney when she was almost a year old.

Macey at almost a year old. The only difference is that she has baby wipes and it requires her to do the dirty work while standing.

This is the video I talked about of Sydney Laughing. I hope this works.

Dentists and Snot Bubbles

Today was Sydney's first visit to the dentist. I am so sad, I forgot to bring the camera so I had to get pictures of her at home with her stickers. She did such a good job. I had one of my friends clean her teeth because she doesn't let me brush them at home very well and I thought she would do better. She was a little nervous at first, but they finished and as you can see from her sticker, she doesn't have any cavities. YEAH!!

As far as the snot bubbles are concerned.....
Enough said!

Poor Macey.

Mother's Day

I know that this a little bit late, but, I had a great Mother's Day. Not only did Weston not have to go to his meetings (he was released 2 wks ago) but he let me sleep in... AHHHH! And, he was around to help me get the girls ready for church. That is a first in almost 2 yrs. For my gift, I got a whole new outfit (including accessories) for Weston's end of the school year banquet, that was held the Friday before. I also get to go pick out the yoga mat that I want. There were to many for Weston to decide. We spent the evening at the park with the girls. It was alot of fun. Sydney is starting to be a bit more adventurous and wanted to attempt the climbing wall. She did a great job. Both of the girls just love the swings. If I could figure out how to post it (Sara any suggestions?), I have the cutest video of them laughing.

Macey getting a closer look

I hope that all of my friends and family had a great Mother's Day. Especially my own mom who does so much for me. Thanks mom. I love you!!

Bug Eyed

Sydney loves swimming and is signed up for swimming lessons this summer in Provo. The other day we found these goggles and told her that they would help her see under water while she was at her lessons. Ever since then, I have been asked SEVERAL times a day if we can go out to the pool and swim. If we are ever outside and she thinks about it, she asks if she can go "dus put a foot in". On Saturday it was fairly warm so we decided to venture on out to the pool. What a mistake. It was FREEZING!! Sydney still wanted to get in and have someone(lucky me) help her. We couldn't seem to keep Macey in the pool though. She kept climbing out. Smart girl that one.

Here is Sydney flexing her muscles for her daddy. I don't really know what Macey is doing. She has to taste everything. Even the weeds growing out of the cracks, or maybe she was just thirsty. Who knows with that girl.

Crack the Egg!

Two in one night! Whew!! Keep your socks on everyone. I finally got our computer working(well, Weston had to help) and now I can happily (and easily) post away.

We had a neighbor that used to live by us and he owned this trampoline. He up and left one day and never returned so, our apartment manager kept his stuff for a few months and then sold us his trampoline for $20. The kids have all loved having it around. Weston taught them how to play crack the egg and as you can see, it is one of their favorite things to play. I know that the pictures are blurry, but you can still see how much fun they are having.

Gavin and Macey always wait so patiently, but eventually they do get their turn and seem to enjoy it just as much as the older kids.

Gavin gets so sad when he has to get off for the big kids, that we have to distract him with something. The wagon usually works pretty good.

What Have We Done?

Our poor little Macey. She has had thrush several times in the last few months and so we have been using the gentian violet stain to treat it. Those of you who have used it know that it stains everything that it comes in contact with a very nice shade of...well, violet. I think that we may have over done it. I don't know if you can see it very well in the picture, but she has two crescent shaped spots on her two front teeth that never really formed any enamel. They seem to have picked up the stain and are now a nice shade of violet. I hope that it isn't permanent. I have tried to scrub it with a toothbrush, but to no avail, they remain purple. I am going to take her into the office and see if I can get it out with a little pumice and a polishing wheel. Here's to hoping.

Finally!!

Okay, so I have been reading every ones blogs lately and realized that I am the only one who has not posted anything in awhile. I guess I just need to get in the swing of things. I have loved reading everyones. We had a good Easter ... interesting morning but good. The girls were thrilled with their Easter baskets.Probably a bit much for Easter but oh well. Macey quickly realized what chocolate was and I think that is where the problem started. She bit into more than a few mini candy bars. Our morning really got interesting when we were just about ready to run out the door for church and Sydney came running in to the room saying that Macey was eating a jelly bean. I went into the livingroom and low and behold it wasn't a jelly bean, but a BLUE robin egg. There went the matching Easter dresses! Lucky for me I had just gotten a bunch of the 12 mth clothes out and washed so she had something else to wear. Macey's mouth and hands were dyed blue for church. I got just a couple of comments. I was so frazzled, that I forgot to get pictures of us all in our Easter clothes. Oh well, there is always next year.
